Meowy Christmas

For the first time in a long time, I finally want to decorate my house for the Christmas season. I want a big, fat tree, but I’ve seen too many YouTube videos of cats taking down Christmas trees so I’m a little apprehensive about getting one.

Look at this. See what I mean? It’s adorable and all, but it can be dangerous for my fur kids, not too mention tiring for me. I don’t want to clean up all day! Well, I already do that, but let’s not add tassels, broken ornaments, and plastic leaves to the list.

So I decided to make one. I’ve been going on a sewing binge this weekend (I made curtains, a throw, and 2 cushion covers), so I made a prototype of my tree last night. I didn’t have enough felt, so the tree is only 14″ tall. I’ll have to get more fabric this month so in can make a 4 feet tall plush tree!

Have a catty Christmas!

Last week a friend gave me a set of mobile phone ornaments, so I used them as decor for my tree. I think they’re purrrfect!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I added a topper this morning, a finger puppet from another friend.

Meowy Christmas!

I’ve been having fun making different things last weekend. The stress has been getting to me, so I needed to regroup and get creative again. Hearing the steady sound of the seeing machine was comforting and relaxing. This is going to be a long week, so I’m glad I was able to disconnect and work with my hands again.

Yeah, I think this is just the beginning of my Christmas decor project. I’m having too much fun so why stop with just a tree?

My Astroboy

Astroboy tested positive for FeLV or Feline leukemia virus, a retrovirus that supressess the immune system, much like HIV/AIDS in humans. There is no cure, but I am hoping that with a lot of love and care, Astro can beat the odds and live a long, full, and happy life. If there’s one cat who can do it, it will be him. I named him after a cool super hero for a reason, right?

That being said, we still both need a lot of healing light and hugs. Please send some our way.

Twister's 3rd year

Twister’s 3rd year

Happy 3rd “Founding Day” to my one and only grumpy darling, Twister! He’s my “first born”, my original lucky cat, the one who transformed me into a Cat Mama, who inspired me to make pet portraits, Meow shirts, and help other felines like him. You are purrrfect to me, Mr. Sungit! Purrrrr on!!!

Lest I forget– here’s the Lady Wednesday. She was the first one to comfort me, as usual.

Pet Portraits

I have to learn how to promote my art and my services, so here it goes… πŸ™‚

Remember the study I made a couple of days ago? This is Sylvester. This is his watercolor portrait. πŸ™‚ If you are interested in having one made (cat, dog, horse, bunny, etc), please send me an email at magicpoppet@me.com or send me a message via this website and let’s talk. πŸ™‚

Fatigued Friday

Purr machine extraordinaire πŸ™‚

Blah. Still struggling. 😦 Another fatigued Friday πŸ˜” I’m trying to get some relief from this murky state by giving my dear Twister a cat massage. It’s the best! That way Twister feels more secure and confident that he is Top Cat in this household, we strengthen our bond, and I get purrs in return to help counter fatigue.

Happy Friday, one and all! πŸ™‚

Tales of Two Kitties Thursdays

I am in the prodome phase of my migraine. This is the pre-headache part: I’m exhausted, everything is muddy and cloudy, and I am taken over a general feeling of blahness. I usually just stay in bed and let it pass, but today I had to tutor and travel around the city. It was an excruciating day, to say the least. I’m raring to go off to dreamland, but before I do that, I must stick with my promise and post something in my blog. So, let’s do this!

My Thursday entries will be dedicated to my two kitties, Ella and Astroboy. They wil have their own day one day, but for now they will have to share Thursdays. They are inseparable anyway, so… I am grasping for words; it’s annoying me to bits. I will just leave you with a picture and maybe, maybe, tomorrow I can talk more about the two.

Good night!

You see a cat, she sees a home

You see a cat, she sees a home

I am publishing a post from CARA Welfare Philippines’ Facebook page. Please support pet adoption.

PS. You can spread the word even if you are not from the Philippines. πŸ™‚ Thank you!

Hi, everyone! The good folks at DDB Group Philippines has come up with an awesome adoption awareness campaign for CARA. And you can be part of the campaign! Here’s how:

1. Click this link: http://adoptapet.caraphil.org/

2. Allow access to your webcam. This is how your image will be captured and used by the application. (Don’t worry, nothing will be shared yet at this point.)

3. Choose between the dog and the cat.

5. Check your “reflection” through the eyes of the cat/dog. Looks good? Click the camera button to capture the image.

4. You can now share the image on Facebook or retake the photo until you’re satisfied with it. You can also add your own adoption awareness message to your post if you want.

That’s it! Easy, right? And by letting your friends know that you support pet adoption, you’ve helped in our campaign already.

So go on, click to: http://adoptapet.caraphil.org/ and let’s spread the word that pet adoption is the best option. Thank you very much!

P.S. We’re having our “Adopt A Pet” event this Saturday, January 18, 3pm-8pm at Greenbelt 5 in Makati. We hope you can join us.

Wednesday on a Wednesday: treat!

Wednesday has a fetish for cotton buds. She loves to dig in my trash to look for some. Urgh. she doesn’t swallow it, but she will take a swat at it, lick, and chew on it. Like I said, URGH. That prompted me to change my waste basket in the room to a covered one and to just offer her an unused cotton bud as a treat when she behaves well. That’s more sanitary, right? πŸ™‚ Here she is patiently waiting for one.
