El Señor Don Gato

image

He's baaaack!!

No distortions for today. This will be the bare-faced, no-make-up-look version of my cat portraits. 😉 I am just happy to see this face again.

I picked up el Señor Don Gato late this afternoon. He was still groggy (they had to run additional tests this morning), but recovering well. His bad tooth was out, his blood profile good, the x-rays were all clear, and the swelling in his leg had gone down. As suspected, he had a puncture wound that was infected. You don’t need the CSI to know what happened there. 😝 When we got home, he meowed like crazy and wanted to be let out of his carrier, but I couldn’t do it because he was still wobbly. The other four were scared of this strange cat and hid in the bathroom. He was like Frankenstein’s monster, reeking of  unknown substances and wailing like a tormented madman.

I let him out after a while. His limp was gone and his confidence was back. He inspected the apartment like a perfectionist boss who just came from a long break. Is my favorite toy still intact? Is the water bowl full? He looked at every nook and cranny. He approached the others one by one. He hissed. No reaction. It was as if he was drunk and felt no fear. Even Astroboy was puzzled. Who is this creature. *hisssssss*

After about an hour or two, he finally settled down in the basket where I dump store my shoes. He always did have a shoe fettish. 😝

Welcome back home, Gato! 😘

The Queen Bee

Ella Bella is our little princess, a true Queen Bee. She’s not menacing at all, mind you, but can be overzealous when it comes to dishing out headbutts and hugs. She will crack her skull against yours if she could. She purrs at the slightest provocation and will flash you her jelly belly out of sheer excitement. No one escapes her charm.

This is day has been challenging and I almost didn’t make this image. I had to leave El Señor Don Gato at the vet’s clinic earlier today. He had been limping for a bit and I honestly thought that he would eventually shake it off, but he never did. He also stopped eating yesterday and then this morning he drank water and vomited. Not good. So off to the clinic we went.

It turns out that his chipped tooth was bothering him. He damaged that long before I rescued him; it shows you how tough a stray’s life could get. So his vet recommended extraction. She also wanted to take a closer look at his leg, which apparently was swollen (he’s “fluffeh” so I didn’t notice!), so she scheduled him for an x-ray plus she shaved his leg. I will get an update along with the results of his blood work tomorrow. Hopefully he can come back home soon. It’s too quiet here. The other kitties are probably wondering where he is.

Day 3: The Basket Case

The Basket Case

Unfortunately, Astroboy is a bit of a nut. He over grooms himself, he picks on El Señor Don Gato, and he climbs windows, cupboards, and shelves like a deranged monkey. But he’s my nut. He’s the sweetest, most sensitive cat I know. He will sit on my lap when a wave of anxiety is about to wash over me. He never lashes out at me when he’s annoyed. He lets me bathe him and administer his medication without a fight. He can be a handful and he’s always full of surprises. Life is never dull around this basket case. 🙂

Wednesday the Ripper

As promised, here’s my distorted cat portrait of the day. Wednesday still looks sweet here, but there’s a glint of madness behind those eyes. Haha. She is the Ripper. Give her paper, cardboard, even cloth and she will shred it in an instant. She remains gentle and Zen-like the rest of the day, though. This is the Yin to her Yang, I suppose. 😝

Distorted Cat Portraits

I woke up with a start yesterday morning. It was 3AM and I was having an anxiety attack. I couldn’t go back to bed so I fed the cats, cleaned the litter box, and wrote and drew in my journal. I fell asleep from exhaustion at around 7.

It happened again this morning, this time at 4AM. I did the same thing, but could not go back to sleep. So I tinkered with my phone, played with PicsArt and came up with this:

The Cat from Manila

This reminded me of El Greco’s “Caballero con la mano en el pecho” (or something like that!).

El Gato y El Caballero

Twister doesn’t mind wearing a doily collar! Hah! How macho is he! 😝

So I guess I’ll be doing more of these portraits. I should do a 30-day distorted cat portrait project! That would definitely stop me from being a lapse blogger. Haha.
